Marcia Young Art was started up with a new pan of watercolour paints whilst the children were at Primary school in 2017. I wanted to follow my dream, my real passion and love of enjoying painting & drawing of landscapes whilst balancing other part time work as well, bringing up my family so I started up as a small art business creating paintings that has the extra personal touch.
Art & drawing has been my greatest love since I was a small child as I was always was drawing animals and people with smiling faces! I grew up in south east London went to Mayfield secondary school that’s closed down now! I loved the smell of the art room, it was the most exciting room in the school, it was were I was the happiest experimenting with different art techniques and styles. Enjoyed many hours painting record covers and met graphic designer Malcolm Garrett that led me following my enthusiasm of design into studying Graphic design, then Graphic design & Advertising at College for four years. My favourite part was coming up with lots of ideas and learning different printing techniques.
Moving from London accidently fell into Catering! Then started running a coffeeshop in Waterstones for nearly 8 years and funded a successful art exhibition at St Martins in the field gallery in the crypt. After following a creative business school course in London: How to start a business course with Doug Richards then a Dream Plan Do course and with support and guidance created this website. I have always struggled with dyslexia so this website was quite a achievement! I have sold my commissioned work to all over the UK and met some wonderful clients over the years having a part in their celebrations.
I have enjoyed meeting customers at different indoor markets over many years even before this website started then decided go outdoors at The Best of Faversham markets once a month. It gives me the best feeling as its a real honour when a customer commissions a painting, buys a print, mug, coaster or greeting card of my art work that supports my small business dream.
My painting expresses my love of colour, light, textures and seeing the beauty that’s all around us. I have taken great inspiration from both natural beauty of the landscape from Cornwall, Lake District, Scotland Wales & Yorkshire dales. Using my little black sketchbook to draw landscapes, wildlife and capturing charm, character and design of buildings.
The past three and half years been enjoy working in social care, gaining NVQ3 qualification and creating all sorts of art and crafts projects in the home with residents with learning and physical disabilities. It really brings me joy seeing them having lots of fun being create and making marks using different types of art materials. Creating art leads to better mental wellbeing, decision making, gaining skills creatively, strengthening their physical coordination and most importantly having fun.

Marcia was absolutely incredible with bringing to life the dreary photos from a raining autumn afternoon and transforming them into bright and colourful gardens as they would be in summer! The recipients of the paintings and I were in awe of the immense level of detail and thought put into them. They loved discovering small details Marcia took care of including. Thank you so much to Marcia for being so helpful and informative, keeping me updated on the progress to make sure I was happy along the way, and for being so accommodating with my requests. Truly a delightful lady and extraordinarily talented artist to order from and I am so over the moon with these paintings!
